Bruce Schneider is on a journey to explore new relationships between art, technology, and perception. Changes in technology and photography have introduced new means of collecting and displaying visual information. Bruce has discovered ways to expand on these methods to produce nature images that extend beyond the everyday visual experience. Using a scanner combined with traditional photographic lighting sources, he captures nature in a way that isolates objects from their environments, allowing the viewer to focus on detail, form and color in a refreshed way: flowers seem to dance in their own light; shells appear to emerge from darkness with radiant illumination; leaves and grasses sway rhythmically in perceived breezes.
There is something undeniably sensual in Bruce’s images-unexpectedly evocative and stirring. A love of nature combines with his extensive background in commercial, architectural, and landscape photography to inform his artwork. Bruce began his professional path in fermentation science, and has a great deal of experience in horticulture and wilderness camping and hiking. His artwork is truly the culmination of his professional and personal passions. He creates his imagery in Edmonds, WA.
